Whelp, that didn't take long.

Going back to the LV in July to see NIN and Soundgarden. First time seeing them both. Excited to see NIN, they have become a top 3 band for me over the last 5 years or so, and SG has also been a fave over the years. The new NIN album is really good too, and it looks like they've been putting on great shows on all the tours supporting it. This will be the first show of the SG/NIN tour so there should be some amazing energy.

Have already requested and been granted the time off at work, including an extra day at the end in case I want to stay an extra day. Don't have a resort lined up yet, but already have offers in hand for 2 nights at both Mandalay and NYNY, so just going to wait a few weeks or so until the 3rd night drops in somewhere. Worst case scenario I'll just have to get one night of the three. Flights are already hovering around $220 and will no doubt drop in the coming weeks. Show ticket is paid for, so the only expense coming up will be flight and of course saving up for the inevitable bad gambling/good drinking. Have plenty of time to save up, 4 full months worth of checks.

And so it begins, the endless daydreaming, planning, preparation and saving that goes into a trip. Getting ready to employ Various Methods of Escape out of Every Day Is Exactly The Same, become Mr. Self Destruct and get Somewhat Damaged in The Great Below.

Update:

Finally had the 3 day offer come through, and it's for NYNY. Booked it. It'll be my second time staying there, 1st was over Xmas last year which was one of the most fun trips I've had in Vegas, so the resort piece of the trip is handled. It's also a fairly short walk from PH where the show is, so good on me there. I've decided to save a little extra this time and squeeze in an extra night in town, I'll be flying in late Friday night w/o a room and staying Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights before flying back Tuesday. Gives me an extra night to party and will just go straight through until Saturday morning when I can hopefully check in by noon or so and get some sleep before the show.

Should be able to comfortably save up around $3900 for this trip to cover the extra night and the inevitable $360 nightly hold/resort fee fleecing upon check-in. Going to leave enough dough on my CC so hopefully there'll be no check-in drama this time, for the first time in a while.

Only $50 in Freeplay as part of the offer this time, but whatev. I still have a little left over from the last trip. With the extra night I'm hoping I might be able to squeeze into Mlife Platinum on this trip, as I likely won't be back before October 1st when all the points I've accrued are wiped away.

Looking forward to this trip...with the NIN show and the extra "party" night it should be a right blowout in the mid-summer heat. Can't wait.

This is going to be a baller-ass vacation. Private planes, 1100 sq ft suites in a 5-star resort, steaks and high-end sashimi. We be living  good  on the 55th birthday trip. It all starts with flying semi-private on JSX in and out. Flown with them a couple times before, SO much less hassle than dealing with the fucking major airports. Private terminal, no TSA, no bag worries, big cushy seats, free drinks. Hopping on in OAK and will just UBER it to and from. So much more evolved than being basically violated by TSA in the normal airports.  Then on arrival in LAS it's in the taxi and over to Resorts World. I have added early check-in to standby, so hopefully I can just roll straight up to the room at 1:30p. It's the One Bedroom Suite at the Conrad, 1100 sq ft of lovely at the north end of the strip. No resort hopping this time, one room, one unpack, one relax.  Trying to think back, pretty sure this will be the biggest room I've ever had in Vegas, I think Encore or Dela...

A decent haul, y'all. -6 nights at Mandalay Bay Las Vegas. $412 all in. Would be $1409 all in with the best website rate. Saved $997 over rack rate. -$30 Freeplay and $50 Resort Credit included in the deal. $80 value. -Roughly $160 in Freeplay from MGM by the time I get to town, $160 value. Total overhead saved = $1237. Not nearly an all timer but not bad for a holiday week trip. Would have been $700 more had I stayed at Fontainebleau as originally planned so a bit of frugality after the baller April trip.  1 month.

Got a nice little Resort Credit bump today, from an old job.  While I was with Kit/Ro in late '22 to early '23 I racked up some Marriot points while I was flirting with the move to Phoenix. Now that Marriot and MGM are bumping uglies, I was able to convert those (otherwise useless) points into MGM Rewards points. It turned into about $190 in credit, which, thanks old job! That means with what I already had earned, I will have over $230 available for the Xmas trip. Hello, Xmas dinner on Marriot, and one other dinner too. That's on top of the $50 I will have from the Aria booking package, and the potential $100 RC bump from getting to Gold on the trip, if I do. 3 nice meals (at least) inbound. We eatin'  good  for Xmas, y'all. The Xmas-freebies post coming up this year will be tidy.
