Next up: Xmas in Vegas.

Flight and room booked, I'm staying at Mandalay Bay. 4 nights, 3 days. All nights comped, and $100 of resort credit and $50 of Freeplay. One of the better offers I've gotten this year. Doing the fly in the night before thing again and will be there the night of the 23rd through the afternoon of the 27th. Will have plenty of time to save up for this one, will start in October and have around $4500 like last time.

This will technically be the first stay at Mandalay, I stayed at THEhotel once last year but this will be the first time at Mandalay proper. Its a little far away from everything but with the tram from MB to Excalibur it shouldn't be too big of a deal getting around.

I had a great time last Xmas in Vegas, the crowds are smaller over the holiday and I'll be getting out early enough to not see the real ramp up to the NYE bropocalypse. May stay an extra night again this time but I'm not likely to plan it ahead of time unless I get a free room offer from Caesars which during that time period seems unlikely. Just will play it by ear/wallet. Flight was a little more expensive this time at over $250, but I suppose that's down to the fact that I'm in and out close to the holiday.

I ended up NOT making it anywhere near Platinum Mlife on the last trip, and will be starting from scratch as all my points will be blown up in October, so no pressure to try to get there this trip. Will be able to wander freely resort wise. Will be sure to be checking out the new SLS that's opening up down in the hinterlands of the north Strip. Haven't been up there since the Riviera trip years ago.

Excited. No place I'd rather be for a religious holiday than Sin City. More as we get closer.

UPDATE:

 Took advantage of yet another free room offer from Total Rewards to book a room for the price of a resort fee at Flamingo for the night I fly in, so I won't have to pull an all-nighter Tuesday night after all. Why not, for $25 I won't have to sleep most of the day Wednesday, it'll be just a normal day after a rager night. The $20 per trip I spend on slots in Caesars resorts pays off again.

Also found out that I will have the entire week from the 21st of December through the 29th off this year from work, so staying the extra night on the end is almost a given, assuming I don't blow through my entire $3800 bankroll in 3 1/2 days. Unlikely, going by past trips. If I have a decent amount left I may do something higher-end this time like Nobu or Vdara or Cosmo for the extra day. No more Harrah's bullshit.

It's all coming up quick and I'm getting pumped.

 Just received a shipment of winter snow today. So it will be a white Xmas, if you know what I mean. Even if you don't know what I mean. Fuck off.

 Another week, another free room offer from the desperate as fuck Caesars Entertainment. Booked another "only costs the price of a resort fee" night at the Flamingo on the 27th, so it'll be Mandalay Bay bookmarked by Flamingo, and now 5 total nights. Woah. Longest trip in my Vegas history if it all works out. Going to leave the flight as it is now, if I end up broke by the night of the 26th I'll just fly home on time and I'm only out the $28, If not I'll change the flight to the next day and do one more night. Still may very well blow off the last night at Flamingo and stay somewhere posh if I have a decent amount of cash left.

This is going to be a baller-ass vacation. Private planes, 1100 sq ft suites in a 5-star resort, steaks and high-end sashimi. We be living  good  on the 55th birthday trip. It all starts with flying semi-private on JSX in and out. Flown with them a couple times before, SO much less hassle than dealing with the fucking major airports. Private terminal, no TSA, no bag worries, big cushy seats, free drinks. Hopping on in OAK and will just UBER it to and from. So much more evolved than being basically violated by TSA in the normal airports.  Then on arrival in LAS it's in the taxi and over to Resorts World. I have added early check-in to standby, so hopefully I can just roll straight up to the room at 1:30p. It's the One Bedroom Suite at the Conrad, 1100 sq ft of lovely at the north end of the strip. No resort hopping this time, one room, one unpack, one relax.  Trying to think back, pretty sure this will be the biggest room I've ever had in Vegas, I think Encore or Dela...

A decent haul, y'all. -6 nights at Mandalay Bay Las Vegas. $412 all in. Would be $1409 all in with the best website rate. Saved $997 over rack rate. -$30 Freeplay and $50 Resort Credit included in the deal. $80 value. -Roughly $160 in Freeplay from MGM by the time I get to town, $160 value. Total overhead saved = $1237. Not nearly an all timer but not bad for a holiday week trip. Would have been $700 more had I stayed at Fontainebleau as originally planned so a bit of frugality after the baller April trip.  1 month.

Got a nice little Resort Credit bump today, from an old job.  While I was with Kit/Ro in late '22 to early '23 I racked up some Marriot points while I was flirting with the move to Phoenix. Now that Marriot and MGM are bumping uglies, I was able to convert those (otherwise useless) points into MGM Rewards points. It turned into about $190 in credit, which, thanks old job! That means with what I already had earned, I will have over $230 available for the Xmas trip. Hello, Xmas dinner on Marriot, and one other dinner too. That's on top of the $50 I will have from the Aria booking package, and the potential $100 RC bump from getting to Gold on the trip, if I do. 3 nice meals (at least) inbound. We eatin'  good  for Xmas, y'all. The Xmas-freebies post coming up this year will be tidy.
