Cash Rules Everything Around Me.
The last of the pre-Vegas funds came in, so financially it's all but an ark lark.
I will hit $5300 on the number. So that will be $1K on the first day to get things off on a good foot, hopefully rolling some of that forward to the next day, then $900/day for the 3 other "rage" days and $800/day for the 2 "cool down" days. It would be nice if I came back with some of that (or Jeebus forbid if for once I came back UP) but I'm not pulling any punches on this trip and if it all goes in the service of a great trip then it'll all go.
Again this leaves me with $18000 worst case scenario in the bank when I'm back from Vegas, plus the $1800/month coming in from UI for another few months. I should get something back from my tax refund in February, too, though how much with all the pension cash outs I don't know.
In any case, I'm comfortable with that being the cushion once I'm back and can settle into the job hunt. I still have something in the range of 2/3rds of my UI still to come, so still over $8500. If I can more or less live off of that, and not dip into the savings I'll be in a really good position once I'm jobbed up. As I've mentioned before I would dearly love to be able to get a good position lined up soonish so I can use some of the extra funds to pay down debt and lower my monthly bill overhead. Paying off (and selling) the car and paying off the one card that I have with a high balance being the two topmost wishes. And hell, if I have some funds left for a possible next Vegas trip that wouldn't suck either.
This also sits me in good stead if I need funds for moving should an opportunity somewhere other than the City opens up. As I think about it, the City will still be position A when it comes to the job hunt, but I will definitely keep an eye on Vegas as a fall back if for some reason pickin's are light here. Just too many advantages for me here on the health care, living situation and earning potential fronts. But if a perfect situation comes available in Vegas it would be hard to not uproot myself and start over there. The thought of being able to go to the Dorsey among my other spots every weekend instead of just 3-4 times a year sounds boffo.
But all that is future, and for the next two weeks my only priority is to get the last planning and packing done this week and then enjoy the literal fuck out of Vegas week. It could be the last one for a while and I intend to get the most out of it that's possible.
T-minus 5 days.
