The Plan, Xmas 2023.
Whelp, though I can scarcely believe it, we are T-minus one month from Vegalagalus.
Time to do the obligatory plan post, that gets almost always uniformly ignored once I'm in town, but I'm a creature of tradition, so here goes.
Night one, Thursday:
Leave work around 1p, drop the car in the work garage, Uber to SFO and off we go. Fly in time if all goes well with United is around 6:30p. In a cab, over to Cosmo, check in, dump the bag, freshen up and hopefully out to the strip by 7:30-8p. May come down and hit Vesper first for a couple "get started" cocktails, then it's off for a light dinner somewhere at Aria or Bellagio, to start racking up the MGM tier credits. Maybe the food hall thing at Aria, dunno will play it by ear.
Then it's off to drink on strip, nowhere in particular. Probably somewhere mid-strip as I may be wearing down a bit after having been up since 7:30a. Some gambling at Aria or Bellagio maybe on the way back to the room, I will hold off on FB until the following day. Getting in relatively early will not be defeat this night.
Day two, Friday:
Some housekeeping this morning. Can sleep in but not too late as I'll have to check out of Cosmopolitan by 11a and hop over to Delano. Hopefully I can get pre-checked into a room right away w/o having to wait and bell desk my bags. If so, roll on up and properly unpack for the next 6 days. From there can begin the trip in earnest. Can start to get a liquor on and get some lunch, maybe some light gambles at some MGM spot then probably back to the room for a quick nap and freshen up before the first "event" of the trip, I'll be seeing Atomic Saloon at Venetian again. I got a great deal for a VIP seat right next to the stage for $50, would have been $189 normally.
After the show, NOW I will probably dig into FB. The place from early photos looks like it will be the tits. Likely no gambling there as I'm MGM-maxing but just want to stumble through the place and check it out, maybe hit a few of the bars. If it's jamming I might stay there, or if not I'm positioned for a Resorts World or Wynn or V/P run, we'll see where the wind takes me. Then probably back down to Aria or another MGM spot for some more VP/slots/drinks before heading back down south and passing out.
Day three, Saturday:
No plans in the morning/afternoon, can certainly sleep in and enjoy the room a bit after the whirlwind first couple nights. Maybe a soak in the room tub to purge some toxins. Then out for some gambles and lunch before starting the big drinking. Go where the spirit moves me during the day, then it's over to Cosmo at 5:30p for dinner at Blue Ribbon. Soaking up the $84 in resort credit I have there.
Then it's freedom the rest of the night. Game on.
Day four, Sunday:
The first no plan day. All things considered, and many done.
Day five, Monday, Xmas:
Deep into the trip now, but still only halfway done. It's Jeebus' birthday. Depending on how my body and finances are doing this day, it could be a cool down day. If I haven't hit anything yet on the gambles I may need to lock that down some this day, and if my body is barking I may need to give it a break. Probably wisest to have a beer only day, eat a lot, hydrate, take stock. Sleeping in, way in, not a sin here. Get a big lunch with endless water flowing. Nap. Stay away from the devil Belvedere.
Then I have the 2nd food reservation of the trip at one of my Vegas spirit animals, Gallagher's at NYNY. STEAK. Then we'll see where we're at after dinner, if it's a true, full cool down day I may just head up to the suite with some snacks and watch the rest of the Niners game. If the bod and wallet are OK though...well there could be Xmas trouble.
Days six and seven, Tuesday and Wednesday:
No real plans these two days. I like to leave the last couple days of these long trips free to just do whatever comes up and double down on anything I'm loving on the trip. Slapping VP and slot buttons if I haven't yet gotten to MGM Gold. More resort hopping maybe, especially if I've gotten Gold MGM, and if I have just more resort freedom in general. If Gold is knocked out and the wallet is OK there will probably be a lot of shuttle resort diplomacy. Hell maybe even a day trip to Double Down. Finish strong and more or less upright and hopefully with a new STD or two. May need to soak up the $100 Gold dinner reward somewhere, will just wing it on that.
Fly out day, Thursday:
Well that should have been a smasher of a trip, and a great way to end the year, but alas it is over. Can sleep until about 10a, then pack up and get out of Dodge. If the plane is on time I'm getting an aerial view of the strip by around 1:30p and on the ground in San Francisco by 3p-ish, then taxi to work, pick up the car and back in the hobbit hole by 4p. I don't have to work until Tuesday so a nice recovery period before rejoining the world of the living.
Thirty. Days.
