The Plan, June/July 2024.

Less than a week now.

In keeping with tradition, a plan post. Spoiler alert: there's not much of a plan.

Saturday:

Dropping the car off at the parking lot at around 12p, then over to the airport. Flight's at 4p so I can hit a bar/resto to have a light snack and a couple beers, then hopefully be on time for the departure. If all goes well I'm on the ground by 5:30p, cab to MB, checked in and bag dumped by 6:30p. Then it's out to the bars. May start at MB spots like Foundation or maybe Skyfall, then may branch out a bit to the south/center strip. Don't think I'll get too adventurous on night one but I will have a full day's spend and should be slept up so no limitations there. A bit of gambling but probably nothing crazy. An ease into it night most likely.

Sunday:

The first full day. Thinking it'll probably be pretty mellow in town as it's the weekend before a holiday. Good for me as there should be plenty of open bar seats. May sleep in a bit then head down for brunch somewhere. Going to try to temper the drinking with food this trip. May hit a couple VP bars to gamble a bit, and am likely to head down in the afternoon to hit some of my center-strip faves, Fuel, Vesper and a few other spots. No plans for the rest of the day so probably a dinner somewhere then go where the wind blows. More VP later this day to be sure, hopefully a hand pay or two in the offing.

Monday:

Another no plans day. I'm going to try to pace myself body-wise this trip so it may be a low impact drinking day. Beer instead of continuous Belvedere shots. We'll see how I feel. No limitations though, should have a good VP budget by now so keep chasing the hand pay dragon. May use up the roughly $200 in Freeplay from MGM resorts somewhere. I'd also like to visit Mirage for one last time this trip before they close, so maybe this is the night. Probably no gambling as I don't have a Hard Rock card but maybe one last run through the bars there. Beatles Love will close this week too, might shell out for a day-of ticket if I'm up on money. I've seen it four times but it's always a good show and this week is the last chance.

Tuesday:

2+ days in now so may do a pretty deep sleep in. Let the body recover a bit through snores. A light lunch and some general dicking around, then in the evening I have to sojourn back to FB for my one and only sure appointment of the trip, dinner at Carama at MB. After dinner, I can probably turn on the jest and finish the day with a drink/chemical run. Still working the VP at this point, hopefully still doing well. No repeats of last June's trip, please.

Wednesday:

Heading down the home stretch. 2 full days left. Since crowds will probably be rolling in this day pre-holiday, may branch out and avoid the strip rush by heading down to the polar opposite end of the strip for a Fontainebleau run. I do love that place. Plenty to do, see, drink, eat, gamble. Later, depending on the spend, may freshen up in the late afternoon (after a nap?) and do a high end steak this night; made a rezzy at the always excellent Delmonico but I'm not going to push it if I'm not in position or shape. After that, we ramble and gamble, maybe the Electra/Rosina run.

Thursday - the 4th of July.

Crowd avoidance day. It'll probably be a shit show both walking and trying to get a cab so I may just stay mainly south strip, certainly after about 5p. There's only one fireworks show on strip this year and it's at Caesars, so that will be the point of avoidance. The one time I was in town for the forth it was an absolute nightmare after the 'works. Easy walking distance to MB after about 11p will be in order. Maybe try to catch the fireworks at Brew Dog if they don't have a buyout, or just safely hang somewhere NYNY or south of that. Strategy is a big part of the game of a holiday week in Vegas. That said this is the last day in town so no holds barred. I don't have to wake up until about 9a for fly out day, so let her rip.

Friday:

Fly out day, up around 9a as mentioned then pop in a cab, hit the airport and hope for a smooth out day. If all goes well should be home in the hobbit hole by 3p. No work then until Wednesday, so a good bit of recovery time for this trip which is a blessing.

T-minus 5 days.
