Blurgh.
Not much going on Vegas-wise. Or me-wise.
I'm still 2+ months away from the last '14 trip and the rabid excitement has yet to set in. I've actually been spending a good bit of time out here in SF as I now have my weekends back, so pretty much every Saturday I'm going out and at least trying to have something resembling a life here.
Still the Invisible Man for the most part when it comes to the ladies. I've chubbed up quite a bit since the last trip (over 250 now) so any remaining sex appeal my old ass had is pretty much toast now. Not a big market out there for 45 year old bald fat guys, it seems. It's still fun to go out, though. Don't really give a fuck if I get laid anymore, anyway. I take care of myself far better than any woman has ever been able to. It's just nice to feel like I'm still in the chase, and I really haven't since hooking up in Vegas over Xmas last year. Vegas Xmas again this year may be the last chance I'll have to get down anyone's pants.
So, the Great National Slimdown (of er, me) begins exactly 60 days from wheels down in Vegas, so the 23rd of this month. No paleo diet shit again, just no more crappy snack food. Sick of it anyway. Would like to get back in the 230's so I at least have a fighting chance when I'm there.
Not much news coming out of Vegas lately either, it seems. Delano opened to mainly yawns, SLS is already laying off staff and looks to be headed for bigger trouble. Downtown has the excitement of a wet llama. People continue to throw vaporware "developments" into the ether looking for sucker investors, mainly Asian (see the still not under construction Resorts World). The Strip continues to homogenize as places like Casino Royale and TI turn distinct frontages into retail and resto chain outlets that have the architectural style of office parks. The Strip can never have enough Walgreens and Denny's, right?
Restaurants open and close, celebrities stick their names on them and people line up for a while, until they don't. Shania and Celine move out, KISS and Britney move in. I see none of them.
Still, there's no place I'd rather be, and as the weeks tick off the 23rd of December is going to start looking awfully tasty pretty soon.
