All Set.

Vegas Xmas is all set.

2 free nights at the Monte Carlo the 23rd and 24th, then I'm stepping out of the MGM comfort zone and will be staying 2 nights in a Premier Room at the Palms for Xmas day and the day after.

Just booked a room that I had to pay for for the first time in 3 years in Vegas. I've been waiting for 2 months to get a better than 2 night offer from MGM but they haven't come through, so fuck 'em, I'm branching out. Guess I'm not spending (losing) enough in the MGM casinos to get the 3 night offers I was getting in past years, so they lose me for two nights.

As said in past posts, I'm not likely to ever make it to Platinum level on Mlife, that could have something to do with it. It also means I'm no longer beholden to MGM anymore though, either. Had MGM come at me with a 3 night offer, I would have booked it, tacked on a night, and probably not spent a penny outside MGM resorts. Now, who knows?

This also torpedoes the plan discussed before to more or less stay rooted in one resort for the duration of the trip for sanity's sake. Guess I'll be spreading the goodness around like I usually do. It's fine for Xmas, most likely. The Strip is mellower and I know which resorts to stay away from for the most part.

Just a $50 Freeplay bump to the Monte Carlo offer. Adding to that whatever I can squeeze out of MyVegas (yeah, I'm back playing it, fuck you) and it'll be a much smaller freebie trip this time. The Comped room offer was midweek only so only around a $100 freebie there. The Palms room though was an upgrade from the bargain basement room and was only $89 a night over a holiday weekend (promo price from going to the Pearl to see Alice In Chains in July), and I have the amazing Jet Blue round trip flight deal so the overhead for the trip is still pretty low.

After a couple months of whatever, I'm starting to get the juices flowing for this trip now. It's been nice to get my head clear of the Vegas space for a while, I definitely need to do that yearly. Even though this is a 4 trip year, the 5-month break is exactly what I needed to clear out the cobwebs and get excited for a trip again. 3 trips in 5 months was too damn much.

So it'll be in on a Wednesday afternoon, out on a Sunday morning, wham bam thank you ma'am. I'm making some wardrobe buys as I have non-saving checks here and there so I'll be a little more dapper. Probably will try and fail to lose some weight again before the trip, but hey, I can dream.

More as I get closer. It's on again.

UPDATE:

Nope on Monte Carlo. See above.
