The Plan, August/September 2016.

The plan for trip #3 this year is set. A little planning, but not too much.

Wednesday, early flight in, doing the Bell Limo thing again, good value and no potential long-hauling by the shitty taxi drivers. Find a bar to hang out in for a while until check-in, then maybe get a quick nap depending on how I feel. Probably just get around after that, do the Cosmo thing, wander the strip and see what turns up, get something to eat somewhere, no plans at all on day one, nice "ease into it" day.

Thursday is "plan day". Probably will sleep in a bit to recover from the early wakeup call Wed, then the morning/afternoon is a myVegas redemption day. Going to see the Shark Reef attraction there, probably will be touristy but I'm fascinated by sharks and have never been up close to one, so eh.

Then around 5p-ish I want to head up to the Foundation Room lounge at MB to check out what's supposed to be one of the best views in town. If there's any time I may go up to Skyfall at Delano again too, that view is ridonk. Then I'm off to Luxor for a splurge steak dinner at Tender Steakhouse, another myVegas reward, as it's an easy walk from MB. Drinks at 2 amazing view spots and a good steak sounds like a lovely evening. Get the myVegas stuff out of the way in basically one location, too.

I'm free after dinner, may head into 1923 at MB since I'm in the neighborhood, had fun last time I was there, then just wander and drink like a vodka fish and see where things take me.

Friday I'm totally open in the day, have an early reservation at the great Gallagher's in the evening then I'm open again. Par-tee. Couple new places I want to check out on the east side of the strip so that could happen.

Last day Saturday is completely open, no plans at all. May try to stay rooted to the south end of the strip the rest of the day as I don't want to be walking up and down the strip in the heat with Saturday Labor Day w/e crowds, but who knows. Maybe I'll end up in Reno for fuck's sake.

I have a long fly-out day Sunday, flight doesn't leave until damn near 8p which sucks but this may be in flux; I now have Monday (Labor Day) off, so if I still have any cash left I may add an extra day to the trip, or if not, worst case hopefully I can add late check out at NYNY that day so I don't have to wander around too long. If leaving I may head down to Cosmo and grind away on some video poker for a few hours to try to bump up my Identity points and earn rooms for Xmas.

So yeah. one day with plans, the rest of the trip not so much, pretty good mix. Bunch of steak wedged in the middle. Try to get around to the usual haunts, maybe find a few more and have a good old time.

This is going to be a baller-ass vacation. Private planes, 1100 sq ft suites in a 5-star resort, steaks and high-end sashimi. We be living  good  on the 55th birthday trip. It all starts with flying semi-private on JSX in and out. Flown with them a couple times before, SO much less hassle than dealing with the fucking major airports. Private terminal, no TSA, no bag worries, big cushy seats, free drinks. Hopping on in OAK and will just UBER it to and from. So much more evolved than being basically violated by TSA in the normal airports.  Then on arrival in LAS it's in the taxi and over to Resorts World. I have added early check-in to standby, so hopefully I can just roll straight up to the room at 1:30p. It's the One Bedroom Suite at the Conrad, 1100 sq ft of lovely at the north end of the strip. No resort hopping this time, one room, one unpack, one relax.  Trying to think back, pretty sure this will be the biggest room I've ever had in Vegas, I think Encore or Dela...

A decent haul, y'all. -6 nights at Mandalay Bay Las Vegas. $412 all in. Would be $1409 all in with the best website rate. Saved $997 over rack rate. -$30 Freeplay and $50 Resort Credit included in the deal. $80 value. -Roughly $160 in Freeplay from MGM by the time I get to town, $160 value. Total overhead saved = $1237. Not nearly an all timer but not bad for a holiday week trip. Would have been $700 more had I stayed at Fontainebleau as originally planned so a bit of frugality after the baller April trip.  1 month.

Got a nice little Resort Credit bump today, from an old job.  While I was with Kit/Ro in late '22 to early '23 I racked up some Marriot points while I was flirting with the move to Phoenix. Now that Marriot and MGM are bumping uglies, I was able to convert those (otherwise useless) points into MGM Rewards points. It turned into about $190 in credit, which, thanks old job! That means with what I already had earned, I will have over $230 available for the Xmas trip. Hello, Xmas dinner on Marriot, and one other dinner too. That's on top of the $50 I will have from the Aria booking package, and the potential $100 RC bump from getting to Gold on the trip, if I do. 3 nice meals (at least) inbound. We eatin'  good  for Xmas, y'all. The Xmas-freebies post coming up this year will be tidy.
