...on trip one of '17.

Not much has changed. Still not at the usual fever pitch of pre-Vegas jazz I usually have, but I'm sure it will kick in over these last two weeks. Worked out the situation with parking the car this time, the timing is such that if I park it on the correct side of the street when I leave Wednesday I won't get any parking tickets, as I'll be back on the Monday after so no risk of the Tue/Thu street cleaning violation. Leaving work at 2:30p that day to secure a spot and then will just bus to the airport as I have in the past. Nice to not have to pay the $100+ for parking around the airport like last time. Most likely will do the Bell Limo to/from the airport again. It's $30 plus $10 tips both ways, so maybe slightly more than a taxi but it's far more baller.

It'll be the first time at Paris for me, staying anyway. Hopefully the room looks a little better than in the pic above. This is the Burgundy remodeled room. It looks a little retro-60's to me which is...huh, but being it's the newest room it seemed like a good idea. Free was also a good idea. Free fridge like the Ultra Hip at PH had, too, which is nice. If it's at least as nice as that room I'm sure it'll be fine. Have Eiffel View so at least the view should be sweet.

Money should be fine, on track to have the full $4500 barring any weirdness. Still at zero in terms of planning. Using up the Restaurant.com coupons is the only "obligation", and even that's no big deal. Carlos and Charlie's which is in Flamingo, basically right next door to Paris, one at Senor Frogs at TI which is a haul but if I'm at V/P (which I will be) it's not too far from there. The other is at Slice at MB which more than likely I'll make it down to for Skyfall/Foundation Room anyway. If not no big whoop. It makes for 3 good but not crazy expensive lunches on 3 of the 4 days.

I've also got a whopping $17 of Express Comps with Mlife that I should use up too before they expire, as they will if I don't use them this trip. I have no plans in the foreseeable future of staying/playing at an MGM resort so I might as well spend them - I sure as hell earned them. And that will be the last tie to Mlife...4 years and 13 trips with them will be down to nothing. They don't offer me anything anymore so that last few bucks will be sayonara. Kinda lament the days of 3 free nights, $100+ resort credit and $100+ Freeplay, but alas the level of my paltry play doesn't warrant that anymore.

So that's that. No much to report, maybe one more check in a day or two before flying out then it's off to the desert. Only 3 trips this year...need to maximize.

This is going to be a baller-ass vacation. Private planes, 1100 sq ft suites in a 5-star resort, steaks and high-end sashimi. We be living  good  on the 55th birthday trip. It all starts with flying semi-private on JSX in and out. Flown with them a couple times before, SO much less hassle than dealing with the fucking major airports. Private terminal, no TSA, no bag worries, big cushy seats, free drinks. Hopping on in OAK and will just UBER it to and from. So much more evolved than being basically violated by TSA in the normal airports.  Then on arrival in LAS it's in the taxi and over to Resorts World. I have added early check-in to standby, so hopefully I can just roll straight up to the room at 1:30p. It's the One Bedroom Suite at the Conrad, 1100 sq ft of lovely at the north end of the strip. No resort hopping this time, one room, one unpack, one relax.  Trying to think back, pretty sure this will be the biggest room I've ever had in Vegas, I think Encore or Dela...

A decent haul, y'all. -6 nights at Mandalay Bay Las Vegas. $412 all in. Would be $1409 all in with the best website rate. Saved $997 over rack rate. -$30 Freeplay and $50 Resort Credit included in the deal. $80 value. -Roughly $160 in Freeplay from MGM by the time I get to town, $160 value. Total overhead saved = $1237. Not nearly an all timer but not bad for a holiday week trip. Would have been $700 more had I stayed at Fontainebleau as originally planned so a bit of frugality after the baller April trip.  1 month.

Got a nice little Resort Credit bump today, from an old job.  While I was with Kit/Ro in late '22 to early '23 I racked up some Marriot points while I was flirting with the move to Phoenix. Now that Marriot and MGM are bumping uglies, I was able to convert those (otherwise useless) points into MGM Rewards points. It turned into about $190 in credit, which, thanks old job! That means with what I already had earned, I will have over $230 available for the Xmas trip. Hello, Xmas dinner on Marriot, and one other dinner too. That's on top of the $50 I will have from the Aria booking package, and the potential $100 RC bump from getting to Gold on the trip, if I do. 3 nice meals (at least) inbound. We eatin'  good  for Xmas, y'all. The Xmas-freebies post coming up this year will be tidy.
