Xmas Go Time.
In 24 hours I will be sitting in an airport bar waiting for my quick flight to LV.
All set aside from some housekeeping tomorrow. Going in for a half day of work, out at about 1:30, hit the bank to pull out the Vegas funds and rent. Head home, quick shower, pack the rest of my shit then it's back in the car and over to the parking lot by the airport so the Audi can chill in safety for 7 days. Shuttle to the terminal, get through TSA a couple hours early then it's the waiting game for the (hopefully) on-time departing 7:55p flight.
Always love the feeling of the hour or so in the airport before the flight takes off. Getting there plenty early takes the stress out of any possible security delays, and it's a great opportunity to relax, have a beer and get the head into a Vegas state; let all the day to day bullshit go and get amped for the upcoming fun.
Then if all goes to plan it's on the ground around 9:30p, over to the Mirage in a cab by 10:00p, up to the room and freshen up and with any luck out to the strip by around 10:30p to start getting in trouble. I'll be across the street from V/P so likely the Dorsey and possibly the new Rosina at Palazzo will be the first in-town beverages.
Unlike last year it appears there will be none of the above picture going on while I'm in town this time. Temps will be cool days (high 50's to low 60's) and cold nights (low 40's and high 30's). Pretty standard for this time of year. I'll have plenty of sweatshirts/sweaters and the Helly jacket along for the ride so no worries.
Having some trouble with the USB-C headphone dongle on my Pixel so I'm taking the new Bluetooth JBL's along for the ride. Because fuck it, my pack is already going to be 427 lbs, what's another pound? They sound better than my in-ears anyway.
Shaving tonight but since this is a crazy long trip I will need to shave again at some point while in town, so I'll just buy a disposable razor there. It's easier than bringing along my razor and the big can of shave cream.
So, as I'm fond of saying it's all over but the horrific screaming. 26 hours to Vegas and 7 days of wish me luck.
