Next After Next After Next. 50th in Vegas.

Das right bishes. I'll be turning 50 next year and you know where I'll be.

Because I like to look 6 months or more ahead at all times, starting to think about the inevitable April trip. I've still got next months trip and the Xmas trip to get through, but hey, who am I kidding, of course I will be in Vegas for 50.

I want to do this one up in terms of a room, so I'm going to forego my normal "hunt for comps at all costs and follow them wherever they lie" school of Vegas booking and will be looking for a suite in just one resort this time. Frankly I'd like to narrow it down to a couple places I haven't stayed before but want to. My preference would be to stay at either Wynn or Venetian/Palazzo on this trip, with some lesser resorts being a possibility.

Wynn right now is a little over $1000 to book for 5 nights, which, ouch. It's a long way out though and I've been getting occasional offers from them to stay in more the $120.night range so if I hold off until closer to the end of the year to book one of those might come along.

V/P is running around $850 this far out with no special rates applied. Again I get the occasional email offer from them but the rate is usually right around $150.night, it doesn't really change much. Better than Wynn but still would need to come down for me to book it.

My old fave the Cosmopolitan is out right now as suites as of today are $1700 for a 5 night stay. Yeah, I love ya Cosmo, but that ain't happening. Again possible better rates out there closer to the trip but they'd have to come WAY down.

A more realistic option for a suite stay is something like a Bally's or a Luxor. Luxor has a one bedroom, newly renovated suite for less than $500 for the 5 nights. Bally's is a bit more for less of a suite but in a better location. Vdara also is under $100/night for suites. Delano is just over $100. Both are suites only hotels.

I may go ahead and lock in something like Vdara when I come back from the August trip and I have a little expendable income, I can always cancel it if something else from a high end resort comes along but if it ends up being Vdara there will be no regrets.

We'll see what shakes out but starting to give it some thought. I am looking forward to getting to 50 in the funland, no where else I want to be.

EDIT: Well now this trip is up in the air based on the fact that I no longer have a job. See future posts. Anyhoo, won't be able to lock anything in for a while probably, until I get a solid jobby lined up or if I'm doing VERY well on keeping my savings in line.

Bummer, because this is a pretty significant life event and there really is no where else I would want to be celebrating it - I sure as hell will be a mound of depression if I have to be sitting in a bar in the City on that day. We shall see...
