July 2019 Post Mortem.
A fun one, more interesting than most and for once I didn't run out of steam.
Got in more or less on time, headed over to MGM to check in. Made my way up to the 9th floor West Wing room. WW gets a lot of hate as the rooms are small and older but they were fine for me. Coming from the hole I live in even a 300 sq/ft room seems like a palace to me. Strange layout, no real view and definitely showing it's age but again no problem for a single guy. Was easy enough to get in/out of and elevators were never too packed even on 4th w/e.
Got out to the strip while the sun was still declining, hit a couple spots to liquor up then went up to Twin Peaks to get some food. Sort of meandered about after that not doing much memorable. This whole night pretty foggy really, made my way down, already pretty drunk to Fuel and hung out there for a long while. Met a girl from Kentucky who was kind of boring but we sort of hit it off I guess? She ended up having to leave to meet some arriving friends but she will return in the narrative. Wandered back to MGM after that well toasted and hit the bed pretty early, couldn't have been much past midnight after the long day.
Got up on the first full day, the 4th, maybe a little too early but decided to head out keeping a later nap in my pocket if needed. Don't remember much about this day either until getting to V/P in the early evening. Did the normal Sam Ross run in there then hit Delmonico for the obligatory amazing filet. Met another, different girl in there whose date had stood her up on tix for the Eiffel Tower to see fireworks, so she invited me to that and off we went.
Again wasn't really attracted to her either but when you're plowed and in Vegas you do what you do so we ended up drunkenly snogging most of the night. The fireworks were a pretty cool experience and then we had a couple drinks and ended up in her suite at Venetian. No clothes came off (my choice, just didn't want to go there) but nice to at least end up in a girl's room for once in Vegas. It's been a while.
So made the (still drunk) cab of shame back to MGM and got a couple more hours of sleep. Got up and did - stuff all day, mostly stayed around center strip after going to the bank to pull money out from my paycheck. Got a burger at Delmonico watching tennis. Spent some time at Carnival Court watching the Whip It's. Never made it back to the room for a nap. I'm sure some details may filter in but right now it's just a big drunken blur. Late-ish getting back to MGM, got a couple not-great slices of pepperoni in the little pizza shop there and crashed out.
Saturday, last day, feeling the burn but got out to the strip by about 11:30a. Mostly a meandering and drinking day. Started out trying to get a food on at MGM in the PUB 18-whatever it's called there but a really bad chicken sandwich meant I was without stomach filling for the day, as I promptly DID NOT EAT ANYTHING THE REST OF THE DAY. And I paid for it.
I did go into Cosmo and won a couple hundy on VP which was nice. Rest of the day was pretty blurry as 3 days of Vegas and the lack of food kicked my ass. I did make it into Carnival Court again around sunset and ended up buying shots for a large chunk of the bar - tipping the bartender $100 in the process. Ah, Vegas. Probably some more Fuel in there somewhere, dunno. Back to the room around 2a and crashed the fuck out.
Fly out morning I was hurting, really struggled staying awake in the morning but still made the airport in plenty of time, flight on time and back to the hobbit hole by about 2p.
In all I probably came out about even on money for the gambling on the trip and came home with $1k to put back in the bank so that's nice. Only put in about a grand at MGM (the only Mlife place I played at all and lost around $400, but the win-back at Cosmo almost evens that out. All-told for 2019 I'm down $1300 for all forms of gambling at Mlife resorts but on almost $10K coin-in which is gaining me (hopefully) some status and comps for the coming year. The newly-arrived Mlife CC will help that too.
So a little more memorable (even though I don't remember it) trip that will be a nice capper to the "Spring of Vegas" I had this year. 5 trips already, crazy. One more to go in December and already looking forward to it, it'll be a long 5-month haul but time to earn some money and get back to a bit of SF normalcy after this crazy year.
And so the obsessing about the Xmas trip begins.
