Salvation (maybe).
Possible light at end of dark tunnel
The Gov of Nevada has announced casinos to be "on track" for a June 4 opening. Of course, he's going to make us all edge through the long weekend until making an "official" announcement on Tuesday, but I would submit that if he tweeted this now then changed his mind Tuesday he'd have the Holy Roman Empire beating down the gates of the Nevada statehouse shortly after. Of which I would be part.
So working on the assumption this date is set, that will be March 17 - June 4. Only a little over two months but it feels like two years. Two months of cancelled reservations, booking and re-booking based on best guesses, and general hand-wringing look to nearly be over. As it stands, my June 7th booking at Cosmopolitan is a motherfucking GO.
That open date gives them 2 days to sort out the various new physical procedures that'll be happening around the resorts before I would arrive. Looks like most will do temperature scanning at entrances. Will that be a mess involving long lines just to get in and out? Hopefully they will have enough scanners to make it seamless. Will bars be open right away? Still unclear, probably will know in the coming week. Two days isn't much time to smooth out the processes, but fuck it, it's either that or wait until the end of the month and I don't think I can handle that at this point. If I'm cooped up in this hobbit hole for another month before getting to let out some steam I'll burst a hatch.
I'm already basically set to go. The cash money will be NO issue. I'm sitting on $6500 right now, have one more check coming and have already paid most of everything for early June except rent. I'll have $7800 in the bank, will take $5300 ($800 for the first, shorter night, $900 for the 5 full days) with me and bang the Mlife CC hard for most expenses (points, baby!) when there so worst case I'm still coming home to $2.5K in the bank.
Probably going to do a mini save and leave the Mlife CC alone so I've got max possible funds available on it for trip time. If it's at $1K standing balance or less, I'll have $4900+ free to disperse. I'll need a good chunk of that to cover the Cosmo costs, nightly hold and all that BS. Should still have somewhere in the vicinity of $3600 to spend on the CC while on the ground.
All the other pre-flight tasks, as always in my Vegas Life, are an hour from being ready. It's a summer trip so the carry-on is more than enough for the task, and it can be packed and ready in an hour, were it necessary. The flight is booked, may just upgrade seats if it's economical. I've been sitting on my ass for the last two months so it's time to get a little better physical condition going pre-trip. Need to start walking more in the next two weeks and cut down on the JJ's chicken. Don't want to get to Vegas after a pandemic then die of a fucking coronary. Also time to start banging the video poker trainer.
Suddenly I'm a little over two weeks from a Vegas trip. Fuck me.
