T-Minus 1 Week.
Slightly hard to fathom, but I sit here, typing this, one week from a fucking Vegas trip.
I had hoped early June would be the time frame, but it had been put off so many times since this mess started that when it finally came together it was/is a bit of a shock. A week from this moment I will be just about arriving at the airport to kick off a 5 day, 6 night boozy bonanza in the desert.
I'm ready. Shit, I've BEEN ready, since March, when this trip was supposed to happen. That trip would have been at the Delano, which won't even be open when I'm there next week. Seems like a year ago that I was within a few days of going then had the rug pulled out from under me. It's good to have the rug back. I like my Vegas rug. It keeps me going.
Took a little stress off the Mlife credit card last night, bumped up my credit limit to $6000, I was never going to seriously threaten the limit I had, but this just gives me a bit of cushion so I don't have to even think about it while there. Just going to bang it for most everything except gambling, trying to max out those juicy Mlife tier and comp points so I can get to Gold. Could get there on the August trip if I apply myself on those two trips. Would be nice not to have to worry about it on the Xmas one.
I got a couple new, slightly dressier button up shirts for the trip. Being that I'm staying at oh so posh Cosmopolitan I had to step up the sartorial game a bit. Although since I'm trying to gamble up at MGM props I may not even spend THAT much time there. We'll see. At least I'll look good.
Also picked up a couple useful trinkets, one being a nice aluminum stylus that (hopefully) I can use on the V/P and slot machines I play. I can't find anything online about it, there's some question about whether styluses work on gaming machines. If not, they should in the current circumstances. If not, it's $11, whatever. The other is a little pill storage cylinder that I can keep in my pocket. It'll hold just about all the daily pills I take to, you know, not die. For those situations where I may not make it back to my own room to take them until the following day. Hey, you never know, miracles do happen. As Merle said, I'm An Old Man (Tryin' To Live While I Can).
The playlist is done and ready to load into the iPad. A good one, I didn't try to be too dogmatic this time about sticking to a theme, I just wanted some upbeat, "get you going" type songs for the triumphant return. This is not the trip for my normal gloomy minor key list. Mixed in a few summer songs, a few songs about the heat, and so on, but mostly just uptempo stuff that will help me shake off the hangovers in the mornings (before heading out and acquiring new ones).
So a few more days of half-assed work, pack my shit then get some sleep and head to SFO a week from now. Let's light this candle, finally.
