10 Days to Heaven (Or Las Vegas).
Oh, hey George.
1 more week+ of mindless drudgery then it's 5 days in Happyland. Everything on track. Got the last paycheck before the trip so I've paid pretty much all remaining bills and pulled out enough cash to get me through the next week until it's time to go. The Save That Wasn't went as planned, I will have $3K left in the bank when I go, with another check coming in while on the trip so no matter what happens in town I still will have a decent cash cushion when back. Nice for once. Even nicer if I actually come back UP for fucking once from a Vegas trip. I've heard that's theoretically possible.
Have started the insulin regimen. Not too big a pain in the ass, literally or figuratively. The U100 needle is almost imperceptible going into a fat layer. No blood or anything. I bought a small sharps container and a travel kit bag for the gear so that's covered. The only rub for Vegas might be when to do the injections. I'm supposed to do them before bed, but coming back to the room blasted and tired after a day out drinking and trying to mess with needles might not be the best idea. I might switch the schedule to morning while in town. Again, hopefully a more controlled blood sugar level will help me have a better, healthier trip.
Nothing's changed on the itinerary. I looked at possibly adding the night before (Tuesday) to the trip since I have the cash and could just leave from work that day, but no good options available with Southwest to change the flight. I would have to do a layover somewhere which is ridiculous for a 1 1/2 hour flight. Have gotten some good late rates from Venetian and Wynn for those dates, but still would be almost double what I'm paying at Aria. Would like to stay at both of them one day but the economics and plan for this trip don't jibe with them this time. And would have to find a room somewhere, check out/check in the next day again...just too much trouble. 4 3/4 days is enough for this one.
Vegas itself should be in a better state than I left it in December. COVID cases are way down, a good percentage of the population is vaxxed (including myself), venues are at 50% capacity up from the 25% over Xmas, no more reservations required for restos, and from what I'm hearing the town is pretty busy and festive right now. Lot of pent up Vegas demand out there. Add all that to this being my first weekend trip in a while and it should be an experience.
Weather for the trip looks to be pretty ideal. Low 90's day, mid-60's night and not a drop of rain. Not even going to pack anything other than polos if that holds. Did get some new jeans to break in. The other 2 pairs I have are getting pretty worn. These are dressy enough looking to be mistaken for slacks so stepping up the game a bit.
So, maybe one more check in here before go day. Getting close...
