How This Is Going To Go Down.

I've had a couple of...struggle-y trips this year. Going to try to remedy that.

Physically I just haven't been able to keep up. I'm getting older, facts. I'm 11 years older than when I first started going to Vegas, and I was already pretty old back then. I've got to stop thinking I can just "push through" on these week long trips. A weekender, with a day off to sleep after? Sure, push through. 6 nights, 5 full days? Ya gotta pace yourself, bitch.

So, here's the "make it through a week of Vegas in September" plan.

1) Hydrate/replenish. I drink a lot in Vegas. no, I mean I drink a LOT in Vegas. I'm drinking from basically get up to drop out. I HAVE to put some of that body fluid back. I bought a pack of Emergen-C electrolyte powder that I'm going to mix into a big glass of water every morning on waking up. That along with a maybe a big Gatorade purchased after making it downstairs should get me off to a good start, then during the day it'll be drink-glass of water-drink-glass of water. No exceptions. Keeping that rolling all day long every day should help the old broken down body mightily.

2) Cool down. I'm in town, again, for nearly 6 full days. I'm going to need to do one of my "cool down" days. This is a day in which I enjoy myself, I drink, but I try to stick to beer rather than shots, and the non-alcoholic fluid intake is prodigious. Leave the Belvedere alone for the day and just chill, Winston. This trip it will be the Tuesday. Nothing going on daytime that day and it's roughly halfway through the trip.

3) Sleep and nap. Since I'll be center strip I'll have no reason not to get a couple hours in the afternoon if I'm feeling run down. No big taxi to get to the room, just a quick stumble. I'll bring earplugs and I have the iPad app now to feed me white noise. No excuse not to get 8 hours overnight and a couple mid-day.

4) Pace yourself and eat. No need to pound 2 Belvy shots at 11am right after walking down to the casino. A beer is fine. Building up to the body destruction during the course of the day, after you've had a chance to eat is a fine plan. Also, EAT. You're in a food mecca, get a good lunch/brekkie before you start assaulting the liver. Then get a good dinner. Shit, get a midnight snack, too. Keep the energy flowing from your stomach, not your liver.

Follow these ideas and I might even make it past midnight two or three times this trip. Sleep in, take it easy, moderate. Very Vegas.
