Clearly, I haven't been focused on the Vegas lately. It's been a crazy couple months. I de-committed from the Arizona move. A very good decision. I had an inkling it was going to be a shit show and I was completely right. One of the benefits of age is having, then trusting your personal instincts about something. From nearly the start I knew it was going to be a bad move and I somewhat painfully but rightfully extricated myself from it, and the company.
But, a random recruiter out of the blue to the rescue, I'm about to make a triumphant return to the biopharma world. Will be joining Agilent in a Program Administrator role. It looks like a good stable company, pays a little better than now and gets me into an individual contributor role which I've wanted for years. I'm done managing dumbasses. Only downside would be having to get a car again but the slight raise should cover some of that.
So, since a little bit of stability has returned, I have booked a trip for my birthday weekend. NYNY is back on the menu after years of no staying there The rooms are renovated finally and I'm ready to check them out. New offers from MGM Rewards came through giving me 4 comped nights there with some FP and RC and less than $20 for the 5 nights (!), Thursday through Monday, getting out on the Tuesday of my birthday (oh well). It's a 2 queen, no strip view room but it's the "Premiere" size so bigger than the base. New rooms look flash, looking forward to it, especially at basically full comp.
No air booked yet, I have acquired a car for the new job so that may be a travel option but likely I will just park it as I wouldn't be able to leave til after work on the Thurs and that would be a late get-in. The cash will be an amalgam of a crash save over the next 3-4 checks and some runoff from the 401k from the old job that I will be liquidating. Should be no issue for what would need to be a $4500 save.
So despite having a pretty crazed early 2023, things might start to settle down and I can get Vegas back on the mind for next month.
