Low Roller.
When I go to Vegas now, I have been taking in the neighborhood of 1K a day as my drink/eat/gamble budget. This time it will be $933 per, so I'm in that range. The first time I went I had around $650 a day, but I only stayed for two nights. Not sure how I didn't freak out having that little. I like to feel like I can pretty much do whatever I want as a non-whale gambler who has no card skills and likes to play penny or nickel slots.
When it comes down to it, while I go to Vegas ostensibly with an amount of money that I'm prepared to blow, I do like to come back with at least a little left over. This time I will also have $125 in resort credit for MGM joints so I should be able to squeeze a couple good meals out of that as it'll be just me going. All I will really need to pay for is the resort fee for 3 nights, and one of those will be covered by the MLife points I have built up so I'm looking at about $50 of actual onsite obligations as everything else is paid for; flight, suite, etc.
I like to gamble a bit when I'm there, but I'm good at realizing when the slots are ass-raping me and can back off and just go sit in a bar for a couple hours and lose money at a (somewhat) slower rate.
It is fun though to find that one machine that is like an ATM machine and will continue to pay you off as long as you sit at it and feed it credits. The first time I was in Vegas the Cosmopolitan was that way for me, on my one full day there I sat in the back area and just went from penny machine to penny machine getting paid out on every one I sat at for about 3 hours til my luck changed. I hit $500 on pennies the next trip at Wynn. The Riviera trip I had no luck at all, I came back from that one down to less than a hundie in pocket (though some of that was down to paying a hooker to basically cuddle with me for a couple hours...I picked her up and was so drunk and tired I couldn't get it up).
On the Luxor trip I did OK, I hit a couple pots on the first night/morning which had me about even money for the trip, so I was able to blow the rest on the last two days without much concern. Last time I took $2800 with me for 3 nights, 2 days and had $800 left on the morning of the last day, which was a good thing as otherwise I would have been consigned to ride all the way back to SF in that fucking Megabus. Hit that one $600 pot on the last night in a drunken stupor which helped immensely.
I've played a few machines up and down the strip w/o much success. Bellagio never does much for me, Monte Carlo either, MGM Grand straight robbed me on slots last time. I'm aware on slots it's all luck of the draw/being in the right place at the right time, there's no skill involved, just luck. I don't know how to play Poker or Blackjack so I'm stuck with slots. Whatev. If I had any gambling skills I might get addicted to it and that's the last thing I need. Vegas for me is a chance to blow what little money I have in pocket and act for a couple days, if not like a whale at least like a porpoise.
