(Sorta) Post Mortem 2/2015.
I went to Vegas. I did things.
This is a very delayed Post Mortem as I had no keyboard on my laptop. Killed it with liquid. This is a new keyboard on a new computer. EXCITING.
Not the best, not the worst trip. As it's been a while I only have generalities in my head. Pretty much went according to plan, though there wasn't much of a plan.
Flight in was good, not too busy, landed and went to MGM to hang out at Whiskey Down for a few hours. Worked over to NY to check in and had to wait around as nothing was available, so had a beverage in Nine Fine while waiting. Finally got up to room, typical clean, comfy NYNY room. 5 stays, 5 good rooms. Was on a corner so not much of a view. Went out, drank a lot in bars. Gambled a little, more or less broke even.
I saw Beatles LOVE on the second day. Not quite as great as I remember from the first time, but still enjoyable. Ate at Portofino, it was meh. Went out, drank a lot in bars. Gambled a little, lost a lot.
3rd day, went out, drank in bars. Most nights I was ending up in Vesper at Cosmo. Cosmo also has a nice new Sports Book, but I didn't spend much time in it. Watched the Dubs win a ridiculous game at TAP at MGM. Started not feeling so good (foreshadowing).
4th day, never really was into it. Didn't shake off a feeling of just...not well the whole day. Went out, drank in bars anyway. Was a pretty dead week in town, no events, no shows, so not much really happening despite it being a weekend. I mean, Fri/Sat were generic Vegas Busy, but there wasn't much buzz. Gambled a little, lost a lot. Racked out pretty early, wasn't feeling it.
Fly out day, I did a dumb thing (again) and had a late ass flight out Sunday, not til after 8p. So I bought late checkout and lounged around in bed until almost 3p watching golf. It was actually kinda fun, as I was not feeling like going down and losing any more money or drinking any more booze. I was thoroughly done. Late, packed flight home and it was all over.
Turns out the main reason I was feeling done the last two days is I was in the early stages of being very sick. I probably literally couldn't feel it like normal b/c I was constantly drunk or hung over. After I got home I had to take the whole next week off of work, and I'm STILL not entirely over it almost a month later.
So, a decent start to a trip sabotaged in the end by a fucking cold. Came back with about a grand, so, again, kinda whatever.
It was fine, nothing really BAD happened, it just wasn't much of a trip to write home about. Kind of a meh experience. Not Vegas' fault, to be sure.
So next up is the long pre-arranged May trip to see the Cure. Not overly pumped about it yet but I'm sure as I get closer I'll start to ramp up. Going to try (yes, I know, AGAIN) to lose some chub so maybe I'll be in a little better physical condition to weather a 4 day trip.
Less than 2 months to get it on again.
