Oh, Jeez.
I'm going to Vegas in 3 days, for 3 days. Don't judge me, I can feel you judging me.
My Federal tax refund has come through, and like the complete rational adult that I am, rather than put it away to buttress the "out of work" fund, I'm going to spend it and a little more and go to Vegas this week. Because, me.
Crazy good package deal on Vegas.com has me on a round trip main cabin flight on Alaska and three nights in the new-ish Resort Room at Bally's for slightly less than $300, minus resort fees. This was less than even the flight alone on any carrier, had I decided to go the comped room route.
Vegas.com for the win. Nice to see packages at even mid-level resorts are still being heavily subsidized. Even with my Caesars Rewards discount the total for rooms alone would have been $180 at Bally's, and the book price for the flight I have would have been almost $600. I think I caught a light event/convention week, so that might explain the low package cost.
I will take about $2600 with me for the 3 days - which works out to $900 for each of the first two days, and $800 for the last. That's a normal full Vegas day spend for me so no need to short arm the trip at all. I could actually spend another $200 while there too to stay at my save goal for the return, so maybe I'll throw one splurge meal on the debit while I'm there. All told I should come back right around $18K still in the bank, so less than a grand actual savings loss in the deal. Just too good a bargain to pass up (for me, anyway).
Weather looks mixed, 50's high on Wed and warming up a bit Th-Fri into the 60's. Not terribly cold nights but a light jacket will certainly be in order for the nights. I will be in Vegas for Valentine's Day. Guess that's why the only bed type available for this trip was 2 queens :/
