Mapping It Out.

Taking advantage of low LOW room rates on Mlife, and have booked up the rest of the year.

Always subject to change, and undoubtedly some of these will, but as it stands now:

-May 3-8, Delano Strip View King Suite.
This one most under jeopardy with no certainty that the strip will even be open by May 3, and no certainty that this would be doable with my work schedule. CANCELLED.

-May 24-29, Luxor Tower One Bedroom Suite.
Since earlier May trip is now toast, this is the first, best hope, and probably would work best with the upcoming work schedule. Cancels if resorts aren't open yet. CANCELLED, MGM has just blacked out all of May.

-June 7-12, Cosmopolitan Terrace Studio
This is the first trip that can happen at this point. Fingers crossed. EDIT: Happened!

-June 21-26, MGM Grand Tower Spa Suite.
Fall back plan if - oh you get the gist at this point. Booking avail. at MGM, may also be first on the "to open" list. If dates slip beyond this I will curl up in a ball and scream at the top of my lungs into the netherworld of forsaken doom. Or...

-July 2-6, Luxor Tower One Bedroom Suite.
MGM is letting me book it, Luxor may or may not be open if things slip this far. I will of course re-book and go if both June trips cancel and Luxor isn't open yet but another MGM resort is. This is getting confusing. Great rate, less than $430 for 4 nights in a big suite. At this point looking likely to cancel as June looking better but covering my ass. EDIT: Both cancelled, thankfully not needed.

-August 22-28, Cosmopolitan Terrace Studio
This one most likely happening no matter what, barring an asteroid strike or something else like that in this fucked up year. Have already put in for the coverage at work, booked the air and the virus *should* be in the rear view by then. Same great room as the June trip at the same great rate, no resort fees.

-December 20-26, Mandalay Bay Elite King.
Great rate on a great room here, had this room last year and it's plenty spacious and has a monster bathroom. Was thinking of going penthouse at MB but it would have been $700 more for space I wouldn't have used. This one less than $40/night for nearly 700 sq ft.

The first three (!) bookings should be considered one, as only one of those trips will happen based on when the resorts open. Money is good to go for whichever of those trips ends up happening, could go tomorrow if it were possible.

As stated, nutball rates on all of these due to the resort shutdown, none of these breaks $600 all in including resort fees, and none of them are bare basic. Could have gotten away at less than $300 in a place like NYNY but my tastes have outgrown decade-old 350 sq. ft. rooms. Caesars Rewards rates are low now too but for lesser rooms in lesser resorts.

Good news today on the Mlife front too as tier point expiration has been extended to December 31, so I am basically guaranteed of getting to Gold this year, and apparently that status will now be locked in until end of 2021, which will be sweet. Free room upgrades the big draw of Gold. Tier credits keep loading up bit by bit every month with the Mlife CC too, helping me get there.

Another plus of all this waiting to take a trip is my Express Comp balance from the CC keeps bumping up every month too. I have around $135 already accrued with at least 1 more month's accrual coming before the next trip. Add to that the $50 in RC I'm getting from some of the booking packages and I might be sniffing $200 in resort credit on the next trip. Splurge meal (or two) indeed.

So, again, barring a plague or something (ahem) it'll be a 3 trip year, which is a nice salvage after the shit hole start to the year we've all had. Nothing like the seven trips of last year but that was never going to happen this year anyway, and probably never will again. Glad to have been able to lock in some killer room rates, now let's just see how things shake out.
