T-Minus 1 Week To Turkey.
Well for good, bad or indifferent, I'm a week away from another Vegas trip.
Going to focus on the possibilities in this post rather than the potential problems. I've done my worrywarting on the last post ad nauseum. Here's to hoping the sky won't fall and thinking about the potential pluses.
I get to drive, which in theory sounds like fun. I love the new car and I'm looking forward to being able to drive and enjoy it more than the 24 miles a day I put on it for the commute. Seems a shame not to stretch its legs, so stretch they will. Flights are as low as they'll be right now at $116 for me which is in line with gas cost, but that doesn't factor in the cab ride cost to/from the airport. It's less about the cost though, as it is I'm in no huge hurry to get there early Tuesday from a spend standpoint and I also have no big desire to deal with Thanksgiving week airports.
The NoMad stay will click a strip hotel off my "haven't done" list, and if as I'm hoping I can get the Atelier room upgrade it should be a nice 4 nights. Nothing wrong with the standard King room, but I've earned Mlife Gold, damn it, so an upgrade ought to be happening. Having a bathtub in the room proper will be a new thing if that happens. So Euro. As previously stated the location is fine and less than $13/night for a top-tier MGM room can't be easily beaten.
No idea what to expect from the Thanksgiving week on the strip as it will be my first. Assuming (remember - hopeful post!) everything is open casino-wise it should be similar to Xmas week or slightly busier, which is fine. NoMad as a base has me easily walkable up and down strip to all but maybe V/P. Doubt a downtown trip is in the cards but not 100% ruling it out. Would leave the car in the garage and just Uber up there if I got the bug.
With the possible capacity issues looming, I've made dinner reservations for the Wed/Thu/Fri evenings just cover my ass on food, probably will cancel one or more of them but at least I'm covered. Light to medium gambling trip likely in store, unless a 1st or 2nd day hand pay happens. Sure would be nice. I'm due to have a financial wash trip, and that would certainly make the save for the Xmas trip a breeze, but as always I'm not counting on it. If I spend every dime of the save I will hopefully have had a great little trip. It's a bonus trip and the plan is to stay within the cash means. Plenty of emergency funds available on the CC and debit should anything out of the box happen, which it never does. I have this Vegas thing down to a science now.
So that pretty much wraps the prep on this one. Just need to hit the bank between now and go time to pull the funds and maybe do a load of laundry, then put in a few more days of work and get out the door around 10-10:30a Tuesday and be on the drive.
