Xmas Stylin', Bitches.
Going to be arriving to My Town in style for Xmas Eve.
Flight prices for basic economy have been hovering around $330 for crappy flight times for the Xmas week. Finally got fed up with it and said fuck it, I'm going chartered plane and finishing out the Vegas year in style.
Booked a JSX flight going out of OAK. Small, fast, roomy and no FUCKING TSA to have to deal with. Hop on fare, only $430 round trip so only about a hundy more than flying with the cattle on a major carrier. No having to get to the airport an hour early, can just get there with a half hour to spare and jump on. Then can catch an Uber to the resort, or if I end up staying at Mandalay Bay could literally walk there from the JSX terminal, it's like half a mile. Will have to Uber to and from OAK a couple times but for the charter jet experience it's worth the extra expense.
Pretty excited about this. Sure I could probably save a couple hundy waiting for an Allegiant fare to come down but then I'm flying in at 12am and hoping against hope that the ONE flight that day won't get cancelled. Again, I'm in a position in my life where I feel like I can buy my way out of inconvenience once in a while; this is that time.
So now the race is on to book the perfect room for the last trip of the year. As of now, due to the closeness of the resort to the plane, I'm in an Elite King suite at MB. I've had the room before and like it, it's big, bright and has a palatial bathroom. More room than I need really but it's actually $30 less than a standard room at Bellagio and as I've stated many times I love the MB complex. With MGM, Aria would be $30/night less but it would be a boring Deluxe King, and I was just there. Could do Delano for less too but those rooms are a little depressing to me somehow and feel smaller than the EK at MB. Vdara rooms for a decent suite would be over $100/night and NoMad is priced out at over $140 for those closet sized rooms. No other resorts with MGM are even on the radar anymore.
So, that leaves me sitting in good stead with a good room booked, now I can hawk the other options like V/P, Wynncore, Cosmo et. al. for the next 3 months to see if anything amazing crops up. It would HAVE to be amazing to not do MGM, as with Gold I'm not paying resort fees and could score an upgrade. Plus there's the MGM Rewards points to consider, but as it stands I'll make Gold petty easily with or without the hotel points, so if something great elsewhere comes along I may entertain it. I'll also keep an eye on MGM prices to see if they drop at all in the next 3 months. Feel like it may come down to the wire on this one.
So while I live in a hobbit hole in the real world and take the damn Muni train to work every day, I'll be flying into a suite in Vegas on a private jet for 6 nights of luxury. My life is a little silly.
