The Plan, June 2023.

Here we are, hovering a few scant weeks away from another Vegas.

Doing this one right, room-wise. We are suite-ing at the fabtastic Cosmopolitan (with a side of Aria). The Terrace room not the biggest room I've stayed at in Vegas. Not the newest room I've stayed at in Vegas. Maybe not even the "best" room I've stayed at in Vegas, but surely my favorite. So, here's the plan...

Saturday
Rolling in around 6:30p if all goes well with United, over to Aria to dump the bags and with any luck out to the strip by 7:30p. No plans, can get up to anything and can go deep if need be as I don't have to be up early the next day. Will have $50/$50 to spend on VP/food in the Aria package that I have to use that night so may stick there to soak that up, then it's off to the races on a Vegas Saturday night.

Sunday
Sleep in, recover, nice relaxed morning then head over to Cosmo around 12:30-1p to get checked in there. If I have to wait at all, maybe hit Vesper if a friendly face is there, or Chandelier for some VP if a seat is open. Would be nice to hit something on VP before the trip even (really) starts.

Once up to the room, get everything unloaded and luxuriate for a bit on the terrace. Will hit the sundries shop before going up and get a bottle and some Gatorades to fill the in-room fridge. Then it's out to the strip, hopefully by 1-2p and just mosey. Likely to hit the Dorsey around 4p as I will have just a few last days to soak in the spot as it will close shortly after I leave. I should be getting hungry by 5p-ish, so maybe Delmonico? See how I'm feeling. Really should do an MGM prop for food for point maxxage but I do love that Delmonico filet.

Then it's jokers wild the rest of the night. See where we end up and hope for some aces on the VP.

Monday-Tuesday
No plans either day, at all. Mornings will certainly include some terrace time, but once out of the room these are the anything goes days and might just start either north (Resorts World) or south (Mandalay Bay) and work my way back to the middle. Same for the evenings, just will wing the food thing and go where the dingles tingle.

Wednesday
The one "plan" day. Nothing up in the morning, might try to sleep in as it's likely to be a long day. Get a light lunch somewhere and do some gambledrinking, then need to be back to the room to freshen up and put on a respectable shirt for the reservation at Lago at 5:45p. Bouncing over to Cosmo from Bellagio, it's the late OPM show at 9p, after some preparatory drinks. Should be a funner, then it's out into the night and see where the wind blows. Could be a late one.

Thursday
The last day. Sleeping in is a do, then again it's mostly left to the winds of destiny as to where i go, though I will probably make a point of hitting Dorsey one last time that night. Beyond that I can do it all and go deep, no early wake up on Friday. Freak flag fly.

The Friday it's up around 9a, pack my shit and get to the airport for the noon flight. Another (hopefully) lovely Vegas in the books.

This is going to be a baller-ass vacation. Private planes, 1100 sq ft suites in a 5-star resort, steaks and high-end sashimi. We be living  good  on the 55th birthday trip. It all starts with flying semi-private on JSX in and out. Flown with them a couple times before, SO much less hassle than dealing with the fucking major airports. Private terminal, no TSA, no bag worries, big cushy seats, free drinks. Hopping on in OAK and will just UBER it to and from. So much more evolved than being basically violated by TSA in the normal airports.  Then on arrival in LAS it's in the taxi and over to Resorts World. I have added early check-in to standby, so hopefully I can just roll straight up to the room at 1:30p. It's the One Bedroom Suite at the Conrad, 1100 sq ft of lovely at the north end of the strip. No resort hopping this time, one room, one unpack, one relax.  Trying to think back, pretty sure this will be the biggest room I've ever had in Vegas, I think Encore or Dela...

A decent haul, y'all. -6 nights at Mandalay Bay Las Vegas. $412 all in. Would be $1409 all in with the best website rate. Saved $997 over rack rate. -$30 Freeplay and $50 Resort Credit included in the deal. $80 value. -Roughly $160 in Freeplay from MGM by the time I get to town, $160 value. Total overhead saved = $1237. Not nearly an all timer but not bad for a holiday week trip. Would have been $700 more had I stayed at Fontainebleau as originally planned so a bit of frugality after the baller April trip.  1 month.

Got a nice little Resort Credit bump today, from an old job.  While I was with Kit/Ro in late '22 to early '23 I racked up some Marriot points while I was flirting with the move to Phoenix. Now that Marriot and MGM are bumping uglies, I was able to convert those (otherwise useless) points into MGM Rewards points. It turned into about $190 in credit, which, thanks old job! That means with what I already had earned, I will have over $230 available for the Xmas trip. Hello, Xmas dinner on Marriot, and one other dinner too. That's on top of the $50 I will have from the Aria booking package, and the potential $100 RC bump from getting to Gold on the trip, if I do. 3 nice meals (at least) inbound. We eatin'  good  for Xmas, y'all. The Xmas-freebies post coming up this year will be tidy.
