Mlife Cardness.

Since Las Vegas is now, has been and apparently always will be the sole focus of my leisure life, and since I seem to have settled on MGM resorts as the focus of that focus, I have signed up for an Mlife Mastercard.

I've dabbled with the other resort companies in town. I tried to single-play Cosmopolitan for a year, nothing really came of it tier-wise or comp-wise. I saw some decent resort credit accrue but for me the name of the comp game is free rooms, and they haven't so much as given me a sniff. I'm in Grazie with V/P but they also don't know I exist. I had a good run of about a year with Caesars Rewards hooking me up with rooms, but I always low-or-no played them so they finally caught on to me and cut me off.

MGM and Mlife, despite some ups and downs, has consistently been the resort group that has taken care of me with stay and play packages that fit my needs at resorts I like to be at, mostly (looking at you, Bellagio and Aria). It was more so that way when I was exclusively playing/staying there and when I was gambling WAY more than I do now, but even now I'm able to greatly reduce my outlay and sometimes be straight up comped for nights at some of the lower end resorts.

Ergo, it seems to make sense to maximize that earning potential by picking up an Mlife CC that I can use to rack up points all over, but especially when I'm in town. 3X Mlife points and TC's in Mlife resorts. 2X on gas and supermarkets. And 1X on everything else. If I use this card essentially as a classic AMEX card, use it all over the place for most everything then pay off the balance every month, I should be able to build up some serious tier credit and get to Gold or maybe even Platinum Mlife, where the serious Mlife benefits kick in.

In essence, it makes total sense. I've been spending money for everything for 32 years as an adult and have been getting nothing back for it - why not EARN something for spending all that money. The spending limit to start is good, somewhere around $4600, so that's plenty to handle monthly expenses, and if I'm always paying it off I'm not spending a penny on fees, there's no annual or monthly fees at all.

Then when I'm IN Vegas I can use the card now instead of cash to rack up points at 3X and stop having to carry such a fat fucking wallet around. It'll take a little more oversight of daily expenses, but I'm sure there's an app of some sort that will help with that. I'll still carry some cash around in town, but now I don't have to stick thousands of dollars in the ridiculously insecure hotel safes.

This of course means I'm an Mlife guy now. Stay, Play, Eat, you name it, it's mostly MGM resorts now. Totally fine, it was time to stop spreading the wealth around and pick a damn team once and for all. Not to say I won't have a random VP session here or there or eat at a non-MGM joint, but when there are MGM resorts all up and down the strip there's no need to stray too far from the points cow.

I've earned this. 2 years ago any card company would have scoffed at my application, much less approved it with a pretty high spend limit. I've been smart with money over those last couple years and now with a better credit score I can reap some rewards. Time to start getting something back for getting my financial shit together. And that reward might as well be benefits in the one place I'm most interested in getting benefits - Vegas.

Hopefully the card comes before I go next week...
