T-Minus 1 Week.
It's that time again.
Nearly Vegas time. I've had such a strange lack of hype for this trip. The new job and all the other personal news from the last whirlwind month+ has blunted my normal buildup to a trip excitement. Such is life when you aren't constantly in a rut, as was the case for much of the TFS time and nearly all of the GL tenure. Vegas was all I had to look forward to. Plus I did just go in May so it's not like I've been pining for Vegas for months like on a normal trip gap.
I'm looking forward to it though. It'll be a good long trip that I can sink my teeth into, almost Xmas-length this time. Money will be no issue, will have no car worries to fret about while gone (because I no longer have a fucking car!), and I feel comfortable walking away from the job for a week, such is the entrenchment I'm feeling there already. I'm an important member of the team and already feel pretty indispensable. It's nice after the nameless, faceless feel of Thermo.
Didn't do much shopping pre-trip on this one. Got a new, cool pair of shoes that will be going. Got a new Giants jersey that will go. Other than that it's the tried and true Vegas gear in tow. The Boom 2, the iPad, the JBL wireless cans, a good Vegas playlist on iTunes, and a little baggie of the good blow gotten on the last trip.
So it should be a good, relaxing, stress-less break. It comes at a good time and will be highly enjoyable as long as I'm smart about how I execute it. Weekend trips in Vegas right now can be a challenge but I think I have a good plan in place to avoid the fucktardedness.
Time to bring down the carry-on and start kitting it out. Maybe one more load of laundry, a good hard week of work, a couple trips to he bank, an Uber to the Airport next Tuesday and I'm on it again.
By this time next week I'll be on the strip hitting the first bars of the trip. Here we go.
