A Post About Nothing.

T-minus 45 days.

Rut. Work, weekend, rinse, repeat. Had a 3 day weekend a couple weeks ago and did nothing really, just did two Fridays and a Saturday, essentially. Think I'm more or less resigned now to doing April, September, and Xmas and that's your 4-trip year, when you include the shorty January trip. If I win some money in April or Sept I might tack on a shorty somewhere in the late summer/fall, but I don't see November being a thing this year, though I'll have the time off. Just too much expense in too short a time. The 3 trips in 3 months, Nov-Dec-Jan really cleaned me out of my cushion.

Last year was the year of "fuck it, spend it all, we're all going to die of COVID anyway". This year cases have fallen off the cliff and I might actually survive the bitch, so time to start acting like there's a future again. So instead of going on 7 trips and spending like a drunken Vegas sailor I need to scale back to a "normal" year. April will be great, perfect weather and no masks, then NIN in September and of course the always fab Xmas trip. If that ends up being it I'm fine with it.

Work going well, little crises here and there but never anything too crazy. Seems like the crazy busy time may not end up being so bad, and I've got enough staff in place to handle it. No one there is making me want to strangle them like at the last couple jobs so that helps. Money is good, able to squirrel away a couple grand a month by being the minimal level of frugal. I have had the "saving up for Vegas" drill down for 10 years now and it's only easier when I'm making $1400 more a month than I was just 5 years ago or so. Slowly building up a little 401k too which is always a good fallback if the job sours.

No change to the April trip plans, still locked into a MB Strip View King unless Caesars comes through with some comped nights. As it's over a weekend, not likely. September I'm in the (meh) Park MGM, then for Xmas I provisionally have MB booked again as it's a great rate for an Elite King, 4 nights comped, 7 nights total for about $270 after resort fees get removed, can't beat that for the room quality. A lot of other resorts sky high that week so if that holds no reason not to follow through with MB. It's obviously a long way off though so we'll see.

So, yeah. About another 2 weeks until I start really counting down, doing plan posts, playing practice VP etc. A few more weeks of rut then I can dig into the first long, full trip of the year.
