Old crap job jettisoned, background check underway with no worries there and reference checks went fine at new job. 98.3% sure I'm getting it. Fuck it all, going to Vegas next week.

Overhead for the air is going to be laughably small. Found a flight on Frontier for $60 round trip. Yep. No bags or seat selection or anything but who cares for a short last minute trip. Times are great too, will arrive at about 12:30p Monday and get out at 1:20p Friday. Four nights, three full days. Short but sweet banger of a trip.

The room, oh excuse me, the suite will be at the lovely Encore Las Vegas. Will be in the Encore Resort King suite, and my first stay at the Wynncore. Decided to splurge, since I've just extracted myself from a job that was dragging me to crap town and am getting myself into a situation that could be a career-ender (in a good way) and possibly VERY lucrative if it all pans out. 

In reality the rate is pretty great for Wynncore though, just $85/night plus resort fees. Comes out to almost $600 all in for the suite but fuck it, I deserve it after the stress of  the last 6 months. Wynn is supposed to be next level on service and comfort and I'm going to enjoy the fuck out of it.

The money will be normal, I'm going to take just around $4200 for the 3 1/2 days, so that's $1K/day for the four days and a little airport beer/cab money. Planning on this being a mainly cash trip, I can throw a little on the Mlife CC over the course of the trip but I'm going to take it easy as I'm still paying off what I put on it on the April trip. Even after all the CC hold fuckery that will happen at Encore I'll still have $3K available on it. 

I will have some financial help from the Encore package and other rewards funds. It'll be $50 FP and $100 RC from the Wynn package, plus the $90+ I have at Cosmo plus the almost $30 I have built up in Express Comps, so that's at least one meal for free at both the Wynncore complex and Cosmo. With the $150 of value at Wynncore it makes the larger than normal room suite cost more palatable.

Going to go spartan on the accoutrements, as I'll have no carry on, just taking the small Timbuk2 bag on this one. 3 days clothes changes, the Boom 2, maybe the iPad, and a pared down dopp bag (no room for the full dopp kit). Should all fit under seat no problem so I can avoid the Frontier carry on upcharge.

Back to a weekday trip to avoid the weekend fucktards this time, which should be nice, especially right now. Very strong chance the mask mandate will be mostly if not entirely gone by the time I arrive too. Would be nice to actually see what I'm flirting with for the first time in a year. As it is a weekday trip, will have to pay for parking near the airport this time too as the work garage is no longer an option. Went with Crowne Plaza for $53, it's close to SFO and has a regular shuttle. Beats leaving it here and paying the $80 parking ticket.

So, a last second, 🎵Celebrate Good Times COME ON! trip. Quick plan and pack for this one but I've got this shit down to a science now. 

Here we go again.

This is going to be a baller-ass vacation. Private planes, 1100 sq ft suites in a 5-star resort, steaks and high-end sashimi. We be living  good  on the 55th birthday trip. It all starts with flying semi-private on JSX in and out. Flown with them a couple times before, SO much less hassle than dealing with the fucking major airports. Private terminal, no TSA, no bag worries, big cushy seats, free drinks. Hopping on in OAK and will just UBER it to and from. So much more evolved than being basically violated by TSA in the normal airports.  Then on arrival in LAS it's in the taxi and over to Resorts World. I have added early check-in to standby, so hopefully I can just roll straight up to the room at 1:30p. It's the One Bedroom Suite at the Conrad, 1100 sq ft of lovely at the north end of the strip. No resort hopping this time, one room, one unpack, one relax.  Trying to think back, pretty sure this will be the biggest room I've ever had in Vegas, I think Encore or Dela...

A decent haul, y'all. -6 nights at Mandalay Bay Las Vegas. $412 all in. Would be $1409 all in with the best website rate. Saved $997 over rack rate. -$30 Freeplay and $50 Resort Credit included in the deal. $80 value. -Roughly $160 in Freeplay from MGM by the time I get to town, $160 value. Total overhead saved = $1237. Not nearly an all timer but not bad for a holiday week trip. Would have been $700 more had I stayed at Fontainebleau as originally planned so a bit of frugality after the baller April trip.  1 month.

Got a nice little Resort Credit bump today, from an old job.  While I was with Kit/Ro in late '22 to early '23 I racked up some Marriot points while I was flirting with the move to Phoenix. Now that Marriot and MGM are bumping uglies, I was able to convert those (otherwise useless) points into MGM Rewards points. It turned into about $190 in credit, which, thanks old job! That means with what I already had earned, I will have over $230 available for the Xmas trip. Hello, Xmas dinner on Marriot, and one other dinner too. That's on top of the $50 I will have from the Aria booking package, and the potential $100 RC bump from getting to Gold on the trip, if I do. 3 nice meals (at least) inbound. We eatin'  good  for Xmas, y'all. The Xmas-freebies post coming up this year will be tidy.
