Post Mortem, May 2021.
Back from the Vegas. Some impressions of a pretty good trip.
The Flights:
Frontier came through. No issues no complaints. Both on time and no retarded seat mates which on Frontier is a coup. Parking was fine at Crown Plaza in Burlingame too.
The Resort:
Encore is a beautiful place. Just a very pretty and luxurious spot to stay 4 nights. The room was all it was billed as, spotless, perfectly maintained, and comfortable. Big soft bed, tablet room controls, plenty of lounging room for people (which would actually happen on this trip). Bathroom nice, tub used, shower power a little anemic but that was the only complaint. Wynncore's only issue was it was barely open for the time I was there, no sports bar, few restos, very few bars or food in general. I would have spent more time there honestly if more had been open. It's a glorious resort complex though that I would have 0 issues staying at again.
The Food:
Nothing special. Plans fell apart for everything I had set up beforehand, had Italian one night at Allegro in Wynn, very meh. Had snack stuff at Rock House one night. had a terrible meal at Mott 32 at Palazzo, sweet & sour pork that made me sick for the whole last night. Had the filet at Delmonico on the first night which was the only outstanding dinner. Nothing else memorable.
The Drinks:
Never really got plastered on this trip, except maybe once on the 3rd night at a bar in Wynn. Spent some time at Vesper, Dorsey a couple times, here and there at all the normal spots. Lobby Bar at Encore a couple times. Stayed away from pure shots most of the trip which was a help. Didn't come home in a state of total destruction which was good for a change.
The Comradeship:
Actually hung out with some buds this time. The 3rd night I met up with a great bartender at Electra that I've built a friendship with in town. We met up for a drink at Ri Ra at MB which was fun, then his brother showed up with some blow for me. A nice surprise (though I paid for it). We then all went to Encore Beach Club on a free cabana deal from one of their industry friends. My first nightclub experience in Vegas. Not my scene at all, but fun to see how the younger half lives. At least I can say I've done it now. Nice to not be a total wolfpack of one in Vegas for once.
The Girls:
No.
The Gambling:
Up and down. Started out horribly, won nothing for most of the next two days and was having no fun, finally started hitting a few 4OAKs and a couple 4 aces so more or less wasn't a disaster. Put back about a day and a half's save when I came back so the last couple days were OK. No hand pays.
So yeah, a trip. For a bonus unplanned trip it was a good one. Knocked another resort off my list and got to see some things I usually don't see in Vegas. Far better use of the gap week than sitting around in my underwear. Next up - July.
