Tomorrow. Wow.
Well shiver me timbers, I'm going to the Vegas tomorrow.
Had an inkling for a couple weeks that a squeak in trip could happen, but didn't know this one was going down for real until Friday. Perfect storm of the right things happening at the right time made it possible. As I've become really good at, a little bit of creative situation manipulation got it done.
Took a risk by not being fully up front with the new employers and laying off a potential start date by a week. Could have blown up in my face and cost me the job if it had come up in the reference checks, but a trio of former work contacts came through and I'm on to literally bigger and better things. Last job was a good resume filler but was a career suck, was going nowhere and I'm beyond glad to be out of it with no real lost revenue. Even got a couple K raise out of it.
I've earned getting to this point in my career. Through a combination of luck and skill, I've amassed a pretty decent resume for a guy who probably attended 4 classes in college, and with that resume got in the door of something that could finally be a ticket to ride. Ready to hopefully ride that train to the early retirement station.
So it's off to happyland for 4 nights. A no-stress no-worries 4 day-er with almost perfect parameters. I'm in a great suite in what is probably the best overall resort complex in town, I have enough time to enjoy it and had enough money in the bank to make it happen. Shout out to the hand pay at Cosmo last trip for the assist. Otherwise this wouldn't be happening or would be happening on a tight budget. And who wants to do budget Vegas? Not this monkey.
I don't have a bespoke Vegas playlist this time, just going with the various lists that have already been built and will alternate them as my taste and mood dictates. Something for every sitch on the iPad. The bag as previously mentioned will be minimal, just 4 clothes changes and everything in the small under seat Timbuk2 bag. It'll be tight but it'll work.
So the bag is 80% packed, the money is out of the bank, the flight has been checked into and the devices are charging. All I need to do is shave tonight, get a good night's sleep and head off to park the car and get to SFO in the morning. I'll drive right past my old work on the way to the airport, where if I hadn't taken this action I'd be toiling away at a job I hate that was going nowhere. I will smile broadly as I pass on by.
See ya Friday, bitches.
