The Plan, April 2021.
Time to lay out the potential deets for the Birthday Bash Bonanza coming up in a few short weeks. There will be at least one virgin involved.
Wednesday
Assuming the Southwest flight is on time, I'll be in, cabbed over and at Aria around 2p. Just about perfect check in time, should be able to head straight up and dump off the bags, freshen up a bit and get going on a mostly full day one. Normally I would be holding back a bit on day one financially, so that I don't overextend the save for later in the trip but there will be no such concerns this time. It's all go from lights out this trip. Probably will head over to Cosmo to get a snack, a drink or seven and some gambling going. No reservations for the day so free to ramble, no going up to V/P to do the Dorsey/Electra run, they will be closed, so the rest of the day/night are open to the winds. No plans, no restrictions, it's all on the table day one. Fuel in there somewhere, most likely.
Thursday
Thinking this might be a good day to head over and check out the Virgin Virgin. Or, the former Hard Rock which is now Virgin Resorts Las Vegas. Any newly renovated resort on or near strip deserves a scope out, so might as well cab over there and give it a peep. I'm not likely to spend a TON of time there in the future as it does take a concerted effort to get over there, but it's always good to support the new in Vegas. Surely can find somewhere there to get a drink and some foodz. It doesn't hurt that Double Down is 3 blocks away, either, for an after Virgin party.
Again no reservations for dinner, so the evening is once again open. If I do any gambling it will be back at Cosmo, so that may be the plan for late afternoon, comeback from the VirginDown and freshen up (nap?), then get some dinner and some gamble on. Whatever I'm feeling like after that. Probably the Sam Ross V/P run, though I'm not going to rope myself into doing that every night since it can get a bit repetitive and I tend to stay all night.
Friday
Maybe a bit of a sleep in on the Friday morn after all that Vegas the first two days, this would be the middle day of the trip, and if needed maybe a modified cool down day. Sleep in, be casual, get a nap if needed, recharge a bit. maybe lighten up in the day time on shotshotshots. For sure a nice lunch and maybe a check in on the boys at Fuel if I haven't already been there. Good relaxed middle trip afternoon.
Then maybe after a quick freshen up in the room, in the evening I finally know where I'll be for once, as I will be doing my first food reservation at Blue Ribbon in the Cosmo. Identity points soaker and energy boost for the rest of the night. Maybe some more VP/slots at the 'Mo to let the food settle, then bounce out to roam the strip the rest of the night. I haven't done a weekend trip to Vegas in a while so try to be patient with the crowds and maybe get my mingle on somewhere this night. I think I still know how to mingle. Late night Fuel again, maybe? Could be a late one.
Saturday
This day is the truest no plans day of the trip. Back in town on what should be a lovely, crowded Vegas weekend day and with no plans whatsoever to guide me. From sun up to maybe sun up again, this day is open to the whims of the Gods and so am I. See what trouble I can get into. It's been 10 years of trips and I should have a healthy bankroll so let's chase all those years of losses and maybe make some back while drinking free drinks and chasing expensive tail all day and night.
Sunday
It's my birthday, bitch. Last day in town, I intend this to be a self-pamper day. Sleep in, then get a nice long shower on, maybe have a drink in the room, enjoy the tunes, then come down around 12:30p for brunch at Salt & Ivy in Aria. Want to make sure I'm getting fooded up on the last day so I can finish strong. May seek out a kiosk somewhere that I can get a massage after. Again, self-pamper and relax. Giants are playing a day game, so maybe catch some of that somewhere, and if needed around 4p or so head back up and catch a quick nap.
Late afternoon, it's up and out and down to eat at Aria once again, at Carbone. I will have a healthy Ex Comps bankroll built up by now so this will be the gratis birthday splurge meal par excellence. Probably more gambledrink at Cosmo after food, then this might well be the last night for the trek down to V/P for the Evan/Joo/Daniel run. Not committing to that being the last stops of the night, but always good to end up on the positive vibes of the old bartender pals. Vesper could always be there as a final final for the trip too, as it's an easy stumble from there to the room at Aria. No crazy early wake up call for fly out morning so this could be a late one again. Try to end in style.
Then Monday it's out of the room by around 10:30a and into the cab over to the airport, hopefully an on time flight and back to the hobbit hole by 3pm to collapse and try to be functional for work the next day.
This one sounds clean as a whistle. A little plan, a lot of not. Some new, a lot of old. Some money lost, a lot won. Hopefully. Let's go.
