The 'VID, and Flusher.

This is more of a life post than a Vegas post, be warned.

I have, through a bit of subterfuge, gotten bumped up in the line and have gotten my first Pfizer vax dose. I basically played off the fact that I'm a pharma employee to weasel my way into the "healthcare" tier of vax priority. I don't really feel like I've denied anyone else a dose, though, I waited months to even try that tack and the people who are truly at highest risk should have gotten vaxxed by now.

Got it free through Healthy SF. I thought I was done with them when I didn't pay my December premium but they extended me without my asking until September of this year. Probably COVID related. It's nice specifically for the vaccine reason, as who the fuck knows when I would have gotten it with Kaiser. Also may be helpful on pharmacy for the few months I have left with HSF.

This is the 2-dose Pfizer vax, so I have to go back in 3 weeks for my second, final dose. It's nice to be in the process though. Won't really change anything in my behavior the short term, will still have to wear masks anywhere in the City and at work, if not for my benefit, for those around me who won't be vaxxed. Having that vax card though may be beneficial as things start to reopen. Concerts and indoor venues may start to require them, though there are some thorny legal issues around that that I won't get into.

It'll make the upcoming Vegas trips more relaxed too. I didn't obsess about it but taking 4 trips to town last year in a raging pandemic probably wasn't the greatest idea for someone with my health history. Assuming I haven't already had COVID, all those plane rides and bar seats, especially the first ones in June with no masks, were a (perhaps badly) calculated risk. Masks will still be required in April but maybe with the vax in my arm I can be a little more free and easy.

On the flush side of things, the news gets better and better. Bidenbux will be coming through as soon as next week, so in addition to that $1400, the $3500 already in the bank, the $2K coming from my 4Q bonus, and my regular paycheck, by next week I could have north of $8K in the bank. Crazy. I may need to look into a savings account, something I haven't had since, oh, the 80's. Even though a chunk of that $8K will go toward April Vegas, there will still be some sitting around that might as well earn me something.

A new car, a fully vested 401k, a 750+ FICO score, money in the bank, and another $15K available to me on credit cards...when the fuck did I grow up and become an adult?
